Diego Correa, M.D., M.Sc., Ph.D.
Diego Correa has over 15 years of basic and translational research experience in the areas of Adult Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, emphasizing on musculoskeletal tissue development, injury and repair, tissue engineering, stem cell-based therapies and oncology (adult stem cells in primary and metastatic tumor formation).
Dr Correa has been the recipient of various fellowships and awards, such as the Young Investor Award from the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) in 2011. As an entrepreneur in the areas of Regenerative Medicine and adult stem cell-based therapies he is a co-founder of Orion-Adult Stem Cells (acquired by Procaps SA group), Colombia; shareholder & strategic Scientific Consultant for Institute for Tissue Regeneration, Colombia; and co-founder & partner at InnovaMed Venture Consulting, Cleveland, OH, USA. He has served as strategic Scientific Advisor for various companies in Latin America including Procaps SA group, Colombia, GID Americas, Nicaragua; and Stem-Medicina Regenerativa, Colombia.
Dr Correa received his MD from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Biomedical Engineering) from Universidad de los Andes and his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Physiology from Yale University/Harvard University. He is currently part of the Skeletal Research Center at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He is author and co-author of numerous publications on musculoskeletal basic science and stem cell biology/translational medicine.
